    This type of stone artwork is known as Shona sculpture. It is named after the tribe of people in Zimbabwe, Africa. The sculptors receive no technical artistic training and learn about the art form from family and friends. They primarily use primitive tools such as a hammer and chisel. The themes of the sculptures generally represent everyday living in Shona society. Shona stone sculpture have become a modern movement and pieces can be found in art museums, galleries, private and public collections worldwide.
